Salou

Updated: Jul 3, 2023

When you need a holiday and find a fab deal leaving in less than 2 weeks…. That can only mean one thing….. PACK THE BAGS!!!

I booked the flight with old faithful Official Ryanair website and well because EVERYTHING is extra, we travelled with just our small back pack that fits under this seat and one small carryon case. Yes, you read that right, I went on a night holiday with only a backpack each and one carryon case and we had everything I needed.

I booked the hotel through Booking.com and we stayed at Golden Port Salou Hotel ® Official Site. half board for 6 nights. The hotel was beautiful with an indoor pool, a spa with an adult’s only indoor pool area with saunas etc and then multiple outdoor pools and entertainment each night. The food was good, breakfast had a wide choice and a few of the days we swapped our evening meal for lunch so that we could dine out. All meals were buffet with a choice of meats, sides and hot & cold foods.

We got the public bus from the airport into Salou and then walked 5 minutes from where the bus stop was to our hotel. A taxi was €30 from the airport one way and the bus was €7 for the two of us each way. We didn’t have much luggage so the bus was definitely a winner. A lot of people choose the bus even families.

What we did:

Port Aventura Theme Park: Before we went I pre-booked us tickets for 2 days to the Port Aventura Theme Park and one of those days we could also go into Ferrari world which was next door. Port Aventura is a fantastic theme park with all different themed lands e.g., Wild West, China, Sesame Street etc. There are rides for all ages and fear factors lol. There is also lots shows and entertainment on throughout the park. Trust me when I said the day flies in when you’re here. There is also plenty of places to eat. The two days we were there we did eat and I honestly thought the food was reasonable price for a theme park. We went into Ferrari Land for about 1 hour, had a walk around and went on one of the rides. If your big into Ferrari then the park is perfect for you.

Bike Hire: We hired electric bikes for 4 hours for approx. £30 each. Oh my goodness this was so much fun. We cycled out to Cambrils, locked the bikes up and had a walk around the town and then grabbed some lunch. The bike path from Salou to Cambrils is along the promenade and it was just beautiful. We took our time cycling back from Cambrils, stopping along the way for refreshments. I have to say this was a fun way to spend the day but disclaimer…. Your butt will be sore by the end of the hire time LOL.

Tempura Chinese Restaurant: We ended up dining here two of the six evenings as the food was AMZAMING but also this Chinese restaurant had the robot cat waiter to serve the food and the experience of that was so cool.

We did spend a few days relaxing around the hotel and walking around Salou as we wanted this break away to have some down time to recharge.

All my travel adventures are in highlights on my Instagram page and my tiktok has videos on all the different things we did so make sure to check them out.

Until the next adventure
