Chlo & TT take Girona
(Couldn’t resist a good old Kardashian spin on it)
Bank Holiday weekend could only mean one thing….. TIME FOR AN ADVENTURE!!!
Got to love Skyscanner and the ability to search ANYWHERE
Ryanair air flights with my good old trusty backpack and booking.com to find the perfect accommodation. We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton in Girona. It was about a 10-minute walk to the bus & train station and then 10 minutes the other way to the city centre so location was perfect and the hotel itself was beautiful.
Girona
So beautiful and medieval. The old cobble streets and beautiful architecture are just wonderful. There is a lovely square with restaurants and it was fab to sit there enjoy dinner and drinks while people watching. I could wonder the streets of Girona for hours. There is a beautiful castle that you can wonder around and go to the city walls which is a walled walk around the city with beautiful views. We only walked part of the wall but enjoyed the views and beauty.
Barcelona
We grabbed the train to Barcelona… we had prebooked the direct train on a return ticket but being us, we boarded the wrong training to Barcelona and it was the in-direct when took double the time lol. The direct train is online 40 minutes which is great to have two cities for the price of one.
We wondered Barcelona streets and took in the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas. As it was St Patricks day there was parades and different festivities happening throughout the city. We walked about and wondered into different churches and soaked in the culture. There are a lot of free activities in Barcelona. We also walked down to the beach to walk along and enjoy the beach vibes of the city. After lunch we grabbed tickets onto the hop on hop off bus to see more of the city before we had to get our train back. We stayed on the bus and just enjoyed the sights and being off our feet lol. The hop on hop off bus was €33 for 24 hours.
I would highly recommend a trip to Girona to see the beauty and enjoy the city without the madness of a big city.
