Home from cold and wet Copenhagen lol. Copenhagen was beautiful but let me tell you it is freezing in January. I was very glad of my thermals. If you are going in the winter be sure to pack good layers. In the winter time a lot of the tourist attractions are shut until the end of March so keep that in mind.
How we got there: We flew from Dublin and parked at Holiday Blue (dublinairport.com) We flew with Official Ryanair website | Book direct for the lowest fares | Ryanair.com Our flight was delayed by 20 minutes due to strong winds but once boarded we were up in the air in no time. The flight was just under 2 hours.
We took the metro from the airport into the city centre approx. £4pp each way
Where we stayed:
Hotel in the centre of Copenhagen | Hotels in the centre of Cph from DKK 400 (wakeupcopenhagen.com) The hotel was in the centre of Copenhagen. Very clean and lovely modern décor. The rooms are small but grand for a few nights break.
What we did:
• 1 hour canal boat tour • Ripley’s Believe it or not, Hans Christian Anderson Experience, Guinness World Records Museum & The Mystic Exploratorie approx. £31pp (if you have the wee tourist card for Ripley’s then you get 10% discount) • Christiansborg Tower – Free entry • Amalienborg Palace for the change of the guards at 12pm – Free • Little Mermaid statue - Free
Where we ate: We had our breakfast at the hotel for £9pp. Lunch the first day was in a little café and I do not even know the name The second/last day we ate at a Max Burgers (kind of like a Five Guys) Dinner was in Nyhavn 37 along the canal. I had spaghetti Bolognese and himself has a burger & chips and we had a coke each. This worked out at approx. £50 total (Copenhagen is expensive to eat and drink so keep this in mind)
