Hi lovelies,
My trip to London with my boyfriend and his family was fabulous and I wanted to give you a travel round up of my experience. London is a city so its busy and fast paced but I am a sucker for that lifestyle (don’t get me wrong I love a good beach holiday too).
Below are all the details of the trip including how we got there, what we got up to, where we stayed and what we ate. If you have any more questions just let me know, I’m happy to help 😊
Before we flew:
On the way to the airport, we stopped at the BallyRobin https://ballyrobincountrylodge.com/ for dinner and it was delish. I got the chicken supreme on a giant Yorkshire pudding (drool). We then got checked into the Maldron Hotel at Belfast Airport https://www.maldronhotelbelfastinternational.com/
The hotel was lovely and the room spacious. Walking into the room there was a toilet in a separate room and then next to it was the shower room and wash basin. There was a king sized bed and single bed in the room so accommodating for families too. The bed was very comfortable and it was a nice way to start our holiday.
How we got there:
We flew from Belfast International with Easyjet airlines easyJet | Cheap flights ✈︎ Book low-cost flight tickets to London Gatwick. We had heard reports about how busy the lines at security at the airports were so we got there in good time, thankfully the line was not too bad and we got through security in good time. I would always advise to leave plenty of time just encase. The flight was just over there hour but a little nap made it pass rather fast. As we were hand luggage only once we landed, we headed for the train station in the airport. We had our train tickets prebooked but because one of the lines was down, we had to get two trains into the centre instead of one.
Where we stayed:
We stayed that the Hub by Premier Inn London Westminster Abby hub by Premier Inn | London Westminster Abbey Hotel. The hotel was just around the corner from the train station and within walking distance of Buckingham Palace, Westminster, the London Eye and much more 😊
When we got to the hotel it was still morning so the rooms were not ready but we were able to drop off our bags and go out to explore. The hotel bar/restaurant area was lovely and a nice area to sit and relax before or after a busy day. When we got back and checked in, we were so pleased with our room. It was so modern and spacious with plenty of storage for anyone staying for longer periods.
Breakfast was included in our booking which was so handy (advice though it got very busy from 8.30am onwards). There were tea & coffee machines which can be used free of charge anytime of day… helped me with my daily latte fix lol. The breakfast catered for everyone with fruit, cereal, granola, pastries and your selection of a good old fry up. The selection was great for getting a good full feed before starting a day of exploring.
What we did:
Tootbus https://www.tootbus.com/en/london/ – we had a 24 hour ticket to redeem at any time for sightseeing. The bus company had several different routes and we used two of there which gave us a great chance to see a lot of the sights. I would always recommend a hop on hop off bus for any city. We got our tickets on offer with Wowcher London Hop On- Hop Off Bus Tour Voucher - London - Wowcher for £19 each which was the cheaper sightseeing bus I had seen.
London Eye – we got this on a combination ticket with Sea Life Aquarium Combination Tickets | SEA LIFE London Aquarium (visitsealife.com). The London Eye was lovely for having the birds eye view over the city. The line was rather long and we were going to pay the extra £10 per person for fast truck but then decided to take a chance and she how fast the line moved. The line was constantly moving and in no time we were ready to board, my advice is unless the line is insanely long then just wait and save your £10 each. Side note, the London Eye constantly moved so you board it while it is still moving round… it does not stop lol.
Sea Life Aquarium – OMG I was living my best life here. I love sea life so had a ball taking my time going through the aquarium. My two favourite parts were the sharks (I honestly could have sat all day and watched them swim about) and the penguins and yes, I got WAY too excited when I heard there was penguins lol. This aquarium is so amazing and definitely worth a visit.
Buckingham Palace – We went to it several times. The first was on the Saturday evening and I was shocked at how few people there were at it and the last time was the Monday before we left and there were thousands of people because by some luck we landed when change of the guards was happening which was amazing to see and experience. Buckingham Palace and the gardens are BEAUTIFUL… though what else would we expect for the Royals #GardenEvny
Shopping – We went round the shops on Oxford street and also went to Hamley’s toy shop on Regent Street which was so cool. The staff are all playing with different toys and just having so much fun, it was fantastic.
Peggys Porschen Cakes Peggy Porschen Cakes– Peggy Porschen Cakes Ltd – I have always seen bloggers go here and said to myself ‘some day I will go’. When we booked London it was the one thing on my list I just HAD to do. I tried to book online before we went but it was too late so I said even if I just saw it, I would be happy. We got there and there was empty tables so I took the chance and asked and we got a table 😊 I will do a separate blog for this experience because in my opinion it deserves one of its own lol.
Trafalgar Square - it was one of my favourite spots with the stunning fountains and fun atmosphere. One of the evenings passing through after dinner there was a dance group teaching routines and of course I just had to jump it and it was so much fun. Without a doubt check it out if your there because there is always something happening at it.
M&M shop - It is just floors of M&M heaven and will definitely cause you to go a little made on the chocolate lol
Where we ate:
Little Italy at Leicester Square Pizzeria – Wine Bar – Restaurant – Steak House (littleitalyuk.com) – We had our first London meal here. We couldn’t resist the PIZZA & chips and what tasty choice it was.
TGI Friday’s Bar & Restaurant in Leicester Square | London | Fridays UK (tgifridays.co.uk) – We had dinner here but had it pre-booked and it would definitely require that as the wait otherwise was rather long. I got the always delicious Jack Daniels Chicken with sweet potato fries (drooling at the thought of it). I always enjoy that diner experience.
McDonalds was also a big hit for grabbing meals between sight seeing
Peggys Porschen Cakes Peggy Porschen Cakes– Peggy Porschen Cakes Ltd – I got ice caramel latte and a chocolate cupcake and himself got an ordinary latte with a slice of vanilla cake and omg is the baker tasty.
